| Course Tour> Lahinch Old Course, 9th Hole
From the tee, which is at the hightest point of the links, it can be seen that the fairway slopes considerably away from the player, as well as from right to left, before rising again to a plateau some ninety yards from the green. The drive needs to start up the right side of the fairway in order to finish in the preferred position, left of centre. The green, fifty-six yards from front to back, is a thing of pure MacKenzie joy, with rolls and gullies criss-crossing its entire length. A ball that misses to the left will invariably leave the player with a blind pitch shot back up to the putting surface.
