The 1st Tee
A strong opening hole, setting off up hill, battling against contour and wind, it sets the heroic frame for the whole golf course. Three hundred and eighty-one yards from the championship tee, the golfer contends with climbs and a fall away to the right which reaches its climax at the green. This is a high plateau, which has gentle contouring around the left side, but with a steep drop of twenty feet or more, just a pace or two to the right.
